New Study Reveals 97% of Public Servants Still Confused by the Concept of ‘Public Service’

  • Invisibility: “Public service? Never heard of her,” one tax auditor quipped before promptly vanishing into a cloud of dusty tax code revisions.

The study acknowledges a potential counterargument: perhaps a small percentage of public servants are genuinely dedicated to serving the public good. However, the report swiftly dismisses this notion as “quaint,” pointing out, “These rare unicorns are either quickly disillusioned or promoted to a level so high they no longer interact with the actual public.”

The article concludes with a call to action so drastic it’s guaranteed not to be implemented: “Clearly, a mandatory ‘Public Service 101‘ course is in order! Imagine,” the report muses, “a world where public servants understand their role in… wait for it… serving the public!”

While ISOT’s findings paint a bleak picture, there’s one silver lining: at least the public service sector provides endless comedic fodder. So, the next time you encounter a public servant seemingly unaware of the “public” part of their job title, just remember, they’re simply contributing to the rich tapestry of bureaucratic absurdity that keeps satirical writers employed.
